St. Louis, MO (May 18, 2021) – Apotheosis Comics today announced its upcoming expansion. The comic shop, which quickly became a cherished fixture on South Grand, is now opening another location at the intersection of South Jefferson Avenue and Cherokee Street at 3359 S Jefferson Ave (formerly the Foam Coffee & Beer building).

Renovations begin this week with an estimated soft opening in early August and a grand opening coinciding with Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, August 21.

“After a year of surviving COVID, we are extremely proud to be able to expand our small business to a new location,” said Apotheosis Comics co-owner Martin Casas. “Having two venues allows us to broaden what we can provide to our community.”

The comic shop’s new location will offer an expanded selection of pop-culture items, graphic novels, and art. In the fall, a well-known local coffee company will open a to-go service at Apotheosis’ Cherokee Street entrance.

When the newly renovated store opens, customers will feel as though they are stepping into a comic book, with white walls and black trim designed like larger-than-life panels. Video-game cabinets inside the store will offer players hundreds of games from the golden era of arcades. Canned cocktails and beers can be enjoyed either in-store or on the sidewalk patio.

“We’re excited to create amazing experiences at both locations of Apotheosis Comics,” explained Casas. “The current location on South Grand will continue to sell comics and drinks, with an emphasis on gameplay and events. We’ll be reopening our second-floor space – which shut down three weeks after opening due to COVID – to D&D, Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, and board-game players.”
